Indonesian President Inaugurates Amman Mineral’s $1.4 Billion Copper Smelter, Aims to Boost Global Demand for Indonesian Copper

On Monday, Indonesian President Joko Widodo inaugurated Amman Mineral Internasional’s $1.4 billion copper smelter in West Nusa Tenggara.

He encouraged global customers to turn to Indonesia for copper products, stating that the new smelter has an annual capacity to process 900,000 tons of copper concentrate.

The smelter is expected to start producing 220,000 tons of cathode copper by the end of the year, alongside 18 tons of gold, 55 tons of silver, and 850,000 tons of sulfuric acid. Indonesia is positioning itself as a key supplier for the global copper market.
