Carbonyl Iron Powder

Carbonyl iron powder is produced by the reaction of CO and iron under high temperature and high pressure, generating pentacarbonyl iron, an oily substance with the molecular formula Fe(CO)5, which is then separated under low pressure to obtain the product.

Carbonyl iron powder is a spherical, gray, ultrafine powder with a micrometer-scale particle size. It has an onion-skin layered structure with extremely high purity, good flowability, dispersibility, high activity, ultrafine particle size, uniform particle dispersion and size distribution, high density, easy sintering and forming with high hardness, and strong holding power. It has excellent electromagnetic performance and good pressing and sintering molding properties.

Our carbonyl iron powder is produced through the reaction of carbonyl and iron at high temperatures and high pressures, followed by low-pressure separation of the resulting pentacarbonyl iron oil.

The product is divided into two types:

  1. Carbonyl Iron Powder (We call it Hard Powder): Obtained directly from the above-described process.
  2. Reduced Carbonyl Iron Powder (We call it Soft Powder): Obtained after the hard powder undergoes a secondary reduction process.

Catalysts: Carbonyl iron powder is an important organometallic catalyst that can catalyze many organic chemical reactions, such as carbonylation of carboxylic acids, carbonyl reduction of ketones, and carbonylation of olefins. In addition, carbonyl iron catalysts can also be used in petrochemical industry reactions such as gas phase cracking, ammonia synthesis, and methanol synthesis.
  2. Material synthesis: Carbonyl iron powder can be used to synthesize various materials, such as nanoparticles, thin films, and electrode materials.
