Indonesia to Regulate Nickel Ore Supply to Support Prices, Says Minister

According to external reports on October 18, Indonesia’s mining minister stated on Friday that Indonesia aims to manage nickel ore supply and demand to support prices. Delays in quota approval have forced some smelters to import ore from the Philippines.

Mining Minister Bahlil Lahadalia told reporters that starting this year, Indonesia extended the validity of its mining quota document, RKAB, from one year to three, though annual production will be determined by the country.

He emphasized the importance of maintaining supply-demand balance to prevent price declines, aiming for both industry and miners to profit equally.
