According to data from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, based on information from lithium battery industry standard announcement companies and industry association estimates, the total production of lithium batteries in China exceeded 117 GWh in January-February, representing a 15% increase year-on-year. In the battery segment, the production of energy storage lithium batteries exceeded 17 GWh. The installed capacity of power lithium batteries for new energy vehicles was about 50 GWh. The total export value of lithium batteries in China reached 61.94 billion yuan in the first two months.
In the primary material segment, the production of cathode materials reached 277,000 tons, up 4.5% year-on-year; anode materials reached 230,000 tons, up 5.6% year-on-year; separator production was 2.45 billion square meters, maintaining the same level as the previous year; and electrolyte production reached 135,000 tons, up 3.8% year-on-year.
In the secondary material segment, the production of battery-grade lithium carbonate and lithium hydroxide were 75,000 tons and 41,000 tons, respectively. In January-February, the average prices for battery-grade lithium carbonate and micro-powder-grade lithium hydroxide were 970,000 yuan per ton and 920,000 yuan per ton, respectively.
